Matheson Park and Pool
Avg. User Rating:

Matheson Park is a 10-acre city-owned park across from Juergens Park located at 1240 Ulrich. The park was named after the late Tomball City Councilmember Jerry Matheson.

The park features:

  • A large interactive Playground area – The playground is split into two separate areas; one area is specifically for toddlers with a sand box and a nice shaded area for adults to sit and relax while supervising their children, and the other for the older children, not far away. There are several shaded areas around the playground and one with (3) three picnic tables under a small cover.
  • A Swimming Pool – The pool is a full facility with restroom, water fountains, and showers.  The YMCA operates the pool for the City of Tomball and can be reached at 281-356-4077. The YMCA also schedules swimming lessons and other programs. The pool will be open on weekends and holidays during the regular school term (May, August, and September) and daily (except Mondays) during the school’s summer recess. The pool is closed on Mondays for cleaning and maintenance. The pool will close for the summer on the last weekend of September. You can purchase summer passes or daily passes.  There is a small fee for using the pool. The price of the passes varies from City resident to non-City resident. If you live within the City limits of Tomball, you are charged a different rate than if you don’t live within the City limits. You must provide proof of Tomball residency with a City of Tomball utility bill or current Drivers License with valid City address.
  • A Pee-Wee Baseball Field – This field is a small fenced area. It is not equipped with lighting, but a great field for a family baseball game.
  • Tennis Courts - There are (4) four fenced tennis courts. The courts are lighted and are on a timer. Reservations are taken for the courts.

This is a rather large park with some wonderful play areas for the kids. The main play structure is HUGE. The tennis courts are well maintained and the pool looks great, although I've never swam there.
