Elizabeth Meyer School is a unique Public School! We teach approximately 200 Preschool and Kindergarten age children each academic year.
Meyer is the Early Childhood Center for Skokie School District 73½ which educates children in the neighborhood approximately bordered by McCormick, Kostner, Greenleaf and Oakton Streets. When neighborhood students leave Meyer, they move on to Middleton School for first-fifth grades and then to McCracken Junior High for sixth, seventh and eighth.
The Meyer staff is closely knit and collaborative. Teachers, assistants and specialists are highly trained and experienced; they work together in Professional Learning Communities to ensure that students are learning to their fullest potential.
Our school district is progressive and child-centered. Educational programs are provided to meet individual needs at each child's instructional level. The curriculum is taught using research-based, best instructional practices and each student's progress is assessed regularly throughout each school year. The curriculum offers a full range of learning opportunities that includes the arts.
The District partners with local universities to provide the best in Professional Development to its teachers. This year, National Louis University will be teaching courses on site to help teachers develop their skills, particularly in leadership training and teaching English Language Learners.
We are a diverse community. Our families are international, representing various cultures and languages. Globalization is alive and well at Elizabeth Meyer School!
We are very proud of our school and happily welcome visitors. We take pride in our focus on literacy learning and the growth of student confidence in the special early years.
