East Prairie School once stood as a small schoolhouse with less than 100 children in attendance. As the community grew, the original schoolhouse was replaced with a new building in 1956, and subsequent additions were made as the school population increased.
Currently, the 431 students are enrolled in grades K-8. Academic excellence is pursued with a strong emphasis on language arts, math, science, social studies, music, art, computer technology and Spanish in grades K-8. Students accomplishments are recognized and applauded. Student awards include: A and B Honor Roll, perfect attendance, and "Student of the Week", which highlights good citizenship and responsible actions.
