The YWCA USA is a women's membership movement nourished by its roots and sustained by the richess of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the YWCA draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership, and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The YWCA will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism, wherever it exists, and by any means necessary.
The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. Across the globe, we have more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including 2 million members in 300 local associations in the United States. More important than the numbers, is our mission to eliminate racism and empower women. We provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.
The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
At the YWCA Evanston/North Shore, we carry out this mission by providing a wide range of programs and services to meet the needs of the unique and diverse communities we serve, including:
* domestic violence services
* flying fish aquatics
* violence prevention and building healthy relationships
* young women's leadership
* economic empowerment
* racial justice initiatives
