Alcott's High School for the Humanities is under development this year. Check back often for the most current information.
Because families at Alcott and neighboring elementary schools have expressed concern over limited public high school options, our community based recruitment efforts will start with Alcott’s 8th graders and we will work closely with other Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhood elementary schools.
AHSH will give enrollment priority to graduating Alcott 8th grade students. We anticipate that Alcott 8th grade students will comprise between 25% and 30% of the freshman class. The remaining seats will be divided between two lotteries, one with a neighborhood boundary and one that is open city-wide. AHSH’s goal is to have a diverse student body that represents both the Lincoln Park and Lakeview communities as well as the city of Chicago.
The enrollment process will begin with an application which collects basic contact information. Should the number of applications exceed the available seats, AHSH will hold a lottery in March. Parents and students will be notified of acceptance or placement on a waiting list. Should students who have been offered enrollment opt not to attend AHSH or transfer before the 20th day of school, AHSH will accept students on the waiting list. AHSH will hold annual 9th, 10th, and 11th grade lotteries.
